Thermal Protector |
(as applied to motors). A protective device for
assembly as an integral part of a motor or motor-compressor
that, when properly applied, protects the motor against
dangerous overheating due to overload and failure to start.

Thermally Protected |
(as applied to motors). The words Thermally
Protected appearing on the nameplate of a motor or
motor-compressor indicate that the motor is provided with a
thermal protector.

Three
Phase |
A
term characterizing a combination of three circuits energized by
alternating voltage sources which differ in phase by one-third
of a cycle, 120 degrees.

|
Transformer |
A static electrical device which , by
electromagnetic induction, regenerates AC power from one circuit
into another. Transformers are also used to change voltage from
one level to another.
